Laos starts production of new film

The Department of Cinema of Laos’ Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism last week held a special good luck ceremony at the start of shooting of a new film titled “Nouansaeng”.
The event also served to promote the film and inform the public about the production of an exciting new cinematic venture.
The ceremony was attended by department Director Mr Khamphao Vannavong, department officials, actors, and the production crew, who gathered for the auspicious occasion to wish for success and a good result.
The film is directed by Mr Shomphong with cameraman Mr Phongvet shooting the action.
It follows the life of Nouansaeng, her relationships, and various events that befall her.
She goes to work in a rural area of Xieng Khuang province, where she lives with Ms Sone, who is a member of the local branch of the Lao Women’s Union. Sadly, Ms Sone’s husband died when an unexploded bomb accidently detonated, but she lives with two other family members.
Nouansaeng enjoys life with Ms Sone’s family but as time passes she can’t but help observe the difficult circumstances of the people who live in the village.
She sympathises with the challenges they face and tries to help them. She tries to learn as much as possible about unexploded ordnance and the dangers that these munitions pose, and passes on what she learns to the villagers.
By chance she meets an actor named Bounthavy who is working in Xieng Khuang and falls in love with him.
What happens to Nouansaeng and will she be happy in love?
To find out, we must all wait for the film to be released so that we can learn her story.
Ms Vilayvan Komphaengmy (Touny) plays the part of Nouansaeng, while Mr Monik Sisouphan takes the role of Bounthavy in this intriguing film.
Shooting will begin soon in Xiengkhuang province and audiences can look forward to having their questions answered and following the ups and downs of the couple’s romance, as well as learning about the challenges of life in a deprived part of the country.
