The Lao President’s spouse, Ms Naly Sisoulith, visits a handicrafts booth at the Lao Ethnic Craft Week at Pakson Shopping Mall.

Lao Ethnic Craft Week promotes handicrafts
 
The Lao Handicraft Association and the Mistine  Khaona Lao Company have jointly organised the Lao Ethnic Craft Week at the Pakson Shopping Mall to promote the development of Lao handicrafts.
The 10-day event, which will continue till September 16, has many booths for displaying handicraft products.
The handicrafts will be displayed at 30 booths, including textile and ethnic clothes, accessories, crafts, pottery, photo and wood crafts, traditional food processing, One Drop One Product items and other ethnic handicrafts. The  public will have a chance to see a wide range of Lao handicrafts and support local entrepreneurs.
People visiting the exhibition will have a chance to win prizes and there will be cultural performances by volunteers. There will also be an ethnic fashion show competition from 3 pm to 6 pm on September 11.
The President of the Lao Handicraft Association, Ms Souvita Paseuth, said at the opening ceremony of the Lao Ethnic Craft Week that the event has been organised for celebrating the Lao Handicraft Establishment Day, which is observed on November 1, and the 25th anniversary of the Lao Handicraft Association. It is also part of preparations for organising the 21st Lao Handicraft Festival in October.
Ms Souvita thanked the Lao President’s spouse, Ms Naly Sisoulith, who is the consulting president of the Lao Handicraft Association, for attended the opening ceremony. She also thanked officials of public organisations, representatives of companies, sponsors, Lao People’s Revolutionary Youth Union, Mistine Khaona Lao Company and Pakson Shopping Mall for supporting the Lao Ethnic Craft Week.
The Lao Ethnic Craft Week will promote ethnic handicraft business units in the country to expand their market and to have a chance to take their products to the international market.
In the future, handicrafts from across Laos can be displayed at Pakson Shopping Mall and both inside and outside the country to expand the market for Lao manufacturers and entrepreneurs.
