Designer Billy to create uniforms for luxury international hotel

Crowne Plaza Vientiane and the Society Corporation have decided to appoint a member of the Lao Young Designers Project to design the new uniforms for the hotel as part of efforts to support the young talents of Laos.
The Lao Young Designers Project is a non-profit programme of the Lao Fashion Week, and the decision is in line with the social contribution commitments of the hotel and the Society Corporation.
Ms Pany Saignavongs, CEO and Founder of the Society Corporation, the mother company of the Lao Fashion Week, has appointed leading fashion designer Billy Si-amphan Chanthavichit to create the uniform designs for the hotel with the given concept of enriching the essence of Lao textile culture while respecting the practice and standards for international hotel uniforms.
Mr Si-amphan Chanthavichit was the winner of the Lao Young Designers Project 2015 and graduated from Esmod Paris with a scholarship from the Lao Fashion Week.
Better known as Billy, he is the first young Lao designer who got a scholarship to attend Esmod Paris in 2016 after winning the fashion design contest of the Lao Fashion Week in 2015, when he was just 17 years old. On returning to Laos, Billy launched his own fashion label – “Billy - L’amour de ma vie” – while he continued his studies at the Faculty of Architecture in the Lao National University.
He was one of the first students of the university’s newly established product design subject at the time. After graduating with a bachelors degree, Billy fully ventured into the fashion field and has become a rising star of the Lao fashion industry. He has been dressing leading celebrities, participants of beauty pageants, top models and Lao socialites.
Besides running his own fashion business, Billy is an active member of the Lao Fashion Week and Lao Young Designers Project.
“The reason why we selected Billy for this pioneering project is because of his outstanding talents and extremely professional personality, which made him a rising star who represented the Lao fashion industry at various international platforms, including the Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week, Manila Fashion Festival,” said Ms Pany.
“He has definitely set such a great example and been an inspiration to aspiring young designers of Laos.”
Billy will create the look for Crowne Plaza Vientiane’s uniforms for front desk receptionists, restaurant and bar service staff, kitchen staff, sales and marketing team, and human resources and finance department staff by using Lao woven motifs and blending them with professional hospitality standards. The new set of hotel uniforms will be completed and introduced in the next few months.
“I am very proud of the Crowne Plaza Vientiane management team led by the General Manager, Ms Patria Puyat, and share the same vision of providing platforms and opportunities for young talents in Laos to create something meaningful and to support young Lao talents to build their career in the fashion and design industries,” said Ms Pany.
“This is the beginning of our partnership to support young talents of this country and I believe there are many more meaningful collaborations on the way, where other members of the Lao Young Designers Project will have opportunities to take part.”
Once the new uniforms are completed, a mini fashion show will be organised at the Crowne Plaza to launch the new look and ten percent of this project will be contributed to the Lao Young Designers Project to support members of the scheme for professional training and education at international fashion academies as part of the mission to create qualified human resources for the Laos fashion industry.
