Exhibition to promote pencil drawing art

The XYZ Art and Culture Centre has invited the public to visit a special exhibition that aims to promote pencil drawing art.
The exhibition will be held during June 21-23 at the French Institute (Institut Français du Laos) in Vientiane.
A representative of the XYZ Art and Culture Centre, Mr Tam Khounphouvong, said: “Our first official exhibition, the XYZ P Pencil Drawing Exhibition, will feature artworks created with pencil by professional and emerging artists, students and members of the public.”
The theme for the exhibition is “Art movement in the Laos community to encourage youth”, and the pencil drawings that will be on display have been created by artists, students and foreigners living in Laos.
“From the 78 works submitted for the event, we will select those that will be exhibited. There will be pencil drawings of artists from different provinces,” he said.
“We at the XYZ Art and Culture Centre are very grateful to have received drawings from different visionaries and artists from many provinces in Laos to promote artworks created with pencil,” he added.
The XYZ is a hub for promoting the values of art and artists. It also fosters collaborations between Lao and international artists.
“We organize art activities, develop and support artisans and craftsmanship, and we are a place to distribute information in the field of art,” Mr Tam said.
“We are here to raise awareness about art and creativity in Laos by encouraging creative activity related to arts, culture and educational projects. This is done to strengthen the community and create a favorable environment to contribute to the local creative economy,” he added.
