LXML inks agreements with government on archaeological research 
 
The Lane Xang Minerals Limited (LXML), which owns and operates the Sepon gold and copper mining project, will support the Lao government in conserving all artefacts found and collected at its mine site.
LXML signed a memorandum of understanding on archaeological research and conservation with the Heritage Department under the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism for the conservation of the unearthed artefacts. This will be in addition to the payment of income, dividends and taxes for its project.
LXML has been a long-time major partner in the development of Laos through the payment of royalties, profit tax, dividends, income and other taxes since it started its operations in 2003.
The firm will cooperate with the government sector in archaeological research and conservation of artefacts found at mining sites of the Sepon gold and copper project.
The ceremony for signing the MoU was held in Vientiane on Wednesday. The documents were signed by the Director General of the Heritage Department under the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr Phakhanxay Sikhanxay, and the Managing Director of LXML, Mr Saman Aneka.
The department’s Deputy Director General, Dr Thonglith Luangkhot, signed a witness document along with a senior company representative, Mr Phonesavath Kounlavong.
The Deputy Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, Mr Vansy Kouamoua, attended the ceremony, during which LXML handed over artefacts found at the Xepon gold-copper mining project in Vilabouly district of Savannakhet province.
