Holly Company creates new jobs in Luang Namtha

The Holly Company, which makes gloves at a factory located in the Boten Special Economic Zone in Luang Namtha province, is providing jobs for local residents.
The company produces high quality gloves that are exported, mostly to Europe, America and Australia, and turns out an average of six million pairs a year.
Company representative Mr Lanpo said the firm is famous for its gloves and decided to set up operations in the Boten SEZ with investment capital of 10 million yuan. The factory opened in May this year.
Current production capacity is about 600,000 pairs of gloves a month, making an average of 6 million pairs a year. The factory makes as many as 1,000 products, such as gloves used in sports, construction, agriculture, etc.
In addition, gloves can be made according to customers’ specifications.
The company’s glove products are recognised internationally because they are high quality products.
Total sales currently exceed US$10 million. Most of the raw materials are imported from China. The factory in Luang Namtha employs 150 people, including 147 Lao nationals and specialists from China.
“We are hiring more people so we can carry out our plan to expand production to Phase 2. Apart from the company being able to create jobs for many Lao people, we have fulfilled our tax obligations to the Lao government correctly and promptly,” Mr Lanpo said.
As for difficulties in doing business in the past, there were transport problems during the Covid-19 pandemic, he added.
“Although we have not yet used the Laos-China Railway, we believe it will facilitate the transportation of raw materials to supply the company more quickly and increase channels to transport goods and expand the market more widely,” Mr Lanpo said.
