Govt encourages Samsung to invest in manufacturing facility in Laos

The Lao government is encouraging Samsung to invest in the country to set up a manufacturing facility for advanced technology innovations.
This was a key message delivered at the “Unveiling the Next Galaxy” event in Vientiane last Friday by the Minister of Technology and Communication, Prof. Dr Borviengkham Vongdala, who chaired the event.
Dr Borviengkham, who chaired the event, said: “This product launch event of Samsung is part of efforts to help and promote the use of digital technology in all fields to drive socio-economic development, and it is considered a part of promoting knowledge expansion in various fields for users in Laos.”
He said Samsung has showcased major innovations and made significant advances in the development of technology. It is also a global leader in the development of advanced technology over the past few years.
“We do hope there will be investment projects by Samsung in Laos in the near future, for example, investment in building a production chain factory. The Lao government is willing to facilitate investors with necessary initiatives, policies and guidelines,” he added.
Executive guests from various sectors experienced the latest innovations of the all-new Galaxy at “The Unveiling the Next Galaxy” event, which was held publicly for the first time in Laos to showcase the latest folding screen mobile phones – Galaxy Z Fold4 and Galaxy Z Flip4.
The event highlighted the excitement from “Samsung Global Unpacked 2022”, which was held on August 10, bringing the all-new Galaxy closer to stakeholders. There has also been high interest from consumers in the form of pre-orders.
The event was aimed at helping consumers understand Samsung’s global commitment about not only creating technological advances for consumers, but also empowering sustainability for society, economy and environment.
The Managing Director of the Thai branch of Samsung Electronics for Cambodia and Laos, Mr Hyung Geun Lee, said, “As we all know, Samsung is a leader in electronics technology, and one of our important objectives is to bring innovation to consumers. To reinforce this Samsung vision, we create Galaxy Z Flip4 and Galaxy Z Fold4, our latest flagship devices that can function for both work and leisure.”
He said Samsung paid high attention to sustainability, especially in environment-related matters.
“This allows us to use more recycled materials for our products, including optimising our packaging. We are also part of the UNDP’s project called Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), securing a green world for all humankind,” he noted.
The firm’s enthusiasm for research and development of advanced technologies will be one of many tools that Samsung will bring to support the hosting of the World Expo 2030 in Busan, the Republic of Korea.
People will experience the latest 6G technology along with other new exciting products from Samsung. Busan is a city with the potential to host world-class events and it is one of the fastest growing cities in terms of infrastructure and innovation.
